Why we do it

We found out that Chlamydia and Gonorrhea can remain dormant for years, without any symptoms and meanwhile cause irreversible damage to the reproductive system. This is quite viscious, because usually humans use the response of their body to determine disease. This makes testing for them the only practical way to detect prevalence on a large scale. Using at-home test kits we hope to increase the number of participants in case feelings of shame are involved.

What makes this even worse is that depending on the sampled group up to 10% of participants are infected.

We also think that there is potential savings for insurance companies by displacing the treatment cost with the cost of screening programs. Reasearch suggests that screening programs could be cost effective.
